Seit acht Jahren habe ich eine Kamera, zunächst eine gebrauchte von einem Freund, der sich eine neue kaufte. Vorher fand ich das Fotografieren blöd. Seit vier Jahren arbeite ich an einem Ausstellungsprojekt über einen Fotografen im Widerstand gegen den Nationalsozialismus. Daraus ergaben sich Einblicke in die Welt der künstlerischen Fotografie. Später kam noch ein Ausstellungsprojekt über einen Kölner Fotografen im Spanischen Bürgerkrieg hinzu. Seit drei Jahren nun befasse ich mich intensiv mit Fotografie – Theorie, Technik, Künstlern, Geschichte – und versuche meine kreativen Ambitionen, die ich früher in Malerei, Literatur und Musik ausgedrückt habe, mit der Kamera auszuleben. Diese besondere Kombination aus intensiver Recherche und spontanem Ausdruck entspricht vielleicht am besten meiner Persönlichkeit.

Eight years ago, I got my first camera, a used one from a friend. Before that, I didn’t like taking photographs. Since four years I am working on an exhibition project about a German photographer who resisted against the Nazi Regime. I had exciting insights into the world of artistic photography through that. Later an exhibition project about a photographer from Cologne in the Spanish Civil War was added. For three years now I have been dealing intensively with photography – theory, technique, artists, history. My creative ambitions, which I have expressed earlier in painting, writing, and music, I now try to act out with the camera. This particular combination of intensive research and spontaneous expression corresponds perhaps best to my character.

Hace ocho años, tuve mi primera cámara, una de segunda mano de un amigo. Antes de eso, no me gusté sacar fotografías. Desde hace cuatro años estoy realizando una exposición sobre un fotógrafo alemán que resistió contra el régimen nazi. Luego comencé con un proyecto de una exposición sobre un fotógrafo de Colonia en la Guerra Civil Española. Yo tenía miradas interesantes en el mundo de la fotografía artística durante esto tiempo. Desde hace tres años estoy ocupado intensamente con la fotografía – la teoría, la técnica, los artistas, la historia. Mis ambiciones creativas, que he expresado anteriormente en la pintura, la escritura y la música, hoy puedo manifestar con la cámara. Esta combinación particular de una intensa investigación y expresión espontánea tal vez corresponde mejor a mi personaje.
